Fase della posa del rivestimento interno in alluminio. Archivio Fuksas

From the first concept sketches to the clay models made by the Fuksas studio, the first design models were created using Rhino software, in order to start the iterative process to optimise the shape to respond to the functional programme and to the required technological performances, from the distance between the two skins of the envelop to insert the control structure for solar gains.

The following step was to generate, starting from the optimised parametric surface, all the components of the envelop (reticular elements and facade cells): a database with more than 1,45 millions of spatial coordinates. In this way, a single date base becomes the direct and bi-directional link, between the overall geometry of the building and the single facade component or structural elements.

The roof's design has been modified several times during the design process together with the performance programme related to the energy and acoustic design. After the first draft of a simple roof, typical of the Chinese manufacturing standard, the client required the creation of a product more in line with Western production standards, with external sandwich panels, acoustic insulation of the internal skin and glazed openings for natural lighting. These were strategic changes received fairly rapidly thanks to the parametric design approach.
