impianti sportivi, palestre – London. Olympic Park (E15 2). Underground: Stratford Gate.

It is the first building dedicated exclusively to water polo to be built for an Olympic Games. The temporary structure includes two pools - a main one for games which is 37 m long, and a smaller one for warm-up; the building has a total capacity of 5,000 spectators. The arena's distinctive feature is its roof, which slopes from a maximum height of 25 m to 6 m; this is to ensure visitors in the stands have an optimal view not only of the pool and the scoreboard on the opposite side, but also an unobstructed view out over Olympic Park. The structure was designed to maximise the use of rentable or reusable parts: once the games have concluded, the stands will be returned and the silver, environmentally friendly PVC coating will be recycled.
