Architects Christoph Gantenbein, of the Christ&Gantebein Studio in Basel, and Fabrizio Barozzi, from the Barozzi/Veiga studio in Barcelona, are the protagonists of the talk entitled “Architetture per la cultura in Svizzera” (Architecture for the Arts in Switzerland) hosted from 6 pm on Thursday 22 June 2017 at the Swiss Corner of the Swiss Chamber – Camera di Commercio Svizzera in Italia in Piazza Cavour, Milan, on the corner of Via Palestro.
During the meeting, whose focus is the theme of new museums and arts centres in Switzerland, architect Gantenbein will present the project of the extention of the National Museum Zurich and the new building of Kunstmuseum Basel, while architect Barozzi will present the Grisons Museum of Fine Arts Chur and the mcb-a (Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts), as part of the PLATEFORME 10 project in Lausanne.
The architects will present not only the urbanistic and architectural features of their designs, but also the cultural, artistic and functional features of the projects, to promote and develop a dialogue and comparison between museums and arts centres in Switzerland and Italy.
The evening will be introduced by Giorgio Berner, President of the Swiss Chamber – Camera di Commercio Svizzera in Italia and the projects will be introduced by Félix Baumann, Consul General of Switzerland in Milan, Valeria Bottelli, President of the Order of Architects P. P. C. of the province of Milan and Alessandra Ferrari, National Councilor of the National Council of Architects P. P. C.
The event will be presented by Paolo Favole, Editor of Arketipo.
After Gantenbein and Barozzi’s talks, the floor will be open for questions, moderated by Matteo Ruta, Arketipo scientific editor.
The evening will end with a cocktail in the atmospheric Swiss Corner lounge bar and all participants will receive a free Special Issue “Swiss Museums”, an insert with issue 111 of Arketipo.
The event, promoted by Arketipo, is curated by architect Arianna Callocchia with the patronage of the Embassy of Switzerland in Italy, the Consulate General of Switzerland in Milan, the Swiss Chamber – Camera di commercio Svizzera in Italia, the Swiss Institute, the National Council of Architects P.P.C. (C.N.A.P.P.C.), the Order of Architects P.P.C. of the province of Milan and the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA).
