Tulip
Seduta modulare su barra per teatri e auditorium/Modular seating system on a beam for theatres and auditoriums
Design: Bartoli Design, 2006

THAT'S WHY THIS PRODUCT IS A "MUSEUM PIECE":
Tulip created a new language in seatings for auditoriums and theatres. Its compact and soft profile, its syncronised opening of seat and armrest by an “organic” movement, resemble a flower, the superposed layers of petals in a blooming tulip.

MAIN CONCEPT OR THE DESIGNER'S REMARK SHOWING THE INNOVATIVE FEATURE OF THE PRODUCT:
A clean-lined, compact and smooth design give Tulip a strong visual identity, also highlightened by an innovative synchronised safety opening device for seat and armrest, a mechanism that facilitates the evacuation of spectators in emergency situation as well as revealing the delicate floral shape that qualifies the product.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS BRIEFLY:
Modular seating system on a beam, in a range of two, three, four seats, it is also available on an individual base and in longer rows upon request. Tulip can be installed on horizontal floors, on a slope or on a grandstand. The seat can be fitted with a writing tablet thata folds into the armrest, with an anti-panic movement.
Upholstered in fabric or leather, the seat, back and arms incorporate a steel structure, padded by fire-resistant and non-deformable polyurethane. The steel supporting beam is lacquered with a scratch-proof aluminium or anthracite colour, and it is fixed to the floor by a steel base concealed by an abs carter.
The patented syncronised mechanism opening seat and arms lowers the arms in use mode when the seat is lowered and it pulls them folded when the seat is lifted (in the case of shared armrests, this only occurs if next seats are not in use) by a gas-operated spring device with a braking effect in the final phase of folding.
Tulip is certified with resistance tests for use in contract environments.
